Job Purpose:
To manage all wood procurement activities to ensure long term supply to Manufacturing facilities which meet company objectives for profitability. Provide advice and training to less experienced Resource personnel. Has accountability for resources procurement at multiple plants of a single plant of large capacity (greater than 61,000 MBF of log usage per year).
Responsibilities:
Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations
Perform other duties as necessary
Budget and forecast costs and volumes of raw materials
Hire, train, and manage performance of staff, provides leadership to less experienced resource managers and forestry staff
Negotiate and supervise various contracts including logging, road construction, and transportation
Appraise and negotiate or bid private and government timber sale purchases
Monitor and report accomplishments and compare to budgets/goals
Ensure delivery of raw materials to mills meeting quality, quantity, and cost objectives
Provide timely information and participation in Mill Business Team decisions
Provide leadership to less experienced Resource Managers
Qualifications:
Driver s license required
Thorough knowledge of company products
In-depth knowledge of general forestry principles and skills
Knowledge of contracts and environmental regulations
Knowledge of current supervisory and management techniques
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills
Good organization skills
Ability to work in team environment
Ability to operate a computer and supporting software
Education:
Bachelor s degree in Forestry or related field
Experience:
3-5 years' supervisory experience
7
years' forestry experience
Or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.
